Previously technical director at the Cava house Recaredo for more than a decade, Joan Rubio choose 2015 to return to the small family farm house Cal Tiques and its vineyards he grew up amongst as child. To start making wine of his own, located in his home town Santa Margarida i els Monjos. Joan is one of the few people in the world the truly know the Penedes wines best, understanding how the land works to truly interpret the expression of fruit and time in his wines, like no one else! making natural wine following Biodynamic Principals in the vineyards, he works with varietals like Xarel·lo, Macabeo, Ull de Llebre and Monastrell. Every wine is different and must be treat each individually. Joan always de-stems & maturate in his ferments since joan believes that the expression of terroir resides in the skins, then drains the juice with the help of gravity before placing the juice in different containers. A true wine wizard works in mysterious ways, it once you put your nose and lips on the glass you truly understand the magic!
