MARTO WEINGUT WÖRNER
Rheinhessen, Germany
Martin Otto Wörner is part of the New Generation of German Winemakers. Coming from a family of winemakers, Martin is making wine out of three hectares of local varietals Bacchus, Riesling, Dornfelder, Würzer, Scheurebe, Huxelrebe, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir grown and around the village Flonheim in the Rheinhessen region. Previously he studied wine at Geisenheim University as well as doing internships at wineries like Matassa & Gut Oggau. Fermentation of the wines takes place in his cellar, which he has taken over from his grandfather. All wines are fermented spontaneously with native yeast, partly mash ferments. and aged in very old barrels that doesn’t influence the wines and give them woody taste. The wines just as himself are very lively, high energy, attitude, you can sense a strong love of life and Nature, Whilst at the same time they feel wholesome, structured and really well made. We are really big fans of Martin and super happy to be able to be apart this young winemakers journey.
